Indian companies gearing up to invest big in Poland

| |
The recent visit to India by representatives of the Polish Information and Foreign Investments Agency (PAIiIZ) has revealed that Poland could be in for a flood of Indian investments next year.

"The interest of Indian companies is huge. I regret we did not go there earlier," declared PAIiIZ president Andrzej Kanthak. Two large companies from the IT sector, namely Wipro and HCL technologies, are considering investments in Poland while the Petrochemical company IPCL is analyzing potential acquisitions. "The company employed a consulting company, it seems that it wants to take over a refinery in Poland," said the second secretary at the Indian embassy in Warsaw, Srikumar Menon. "Over ten companies expressed their strong interest in investing in Poland," said Kanthak. Some of these have already decided to invest. ZenSar technology for example will build a research and development center in Gdansk which will employ 500-1000 people, while KPIT Cummins has opened a center of business process outsourcing in Wroclaw. It employs 100 people and is to increase employment to 500.
